what you can do to Help keep Wildlife at Bay

#1 Consider NOT Feeding them.

Putting out food is like opening Pandora's box, wildlife becomes more of a problem when feeding has made them "habituated," or unafraid of us.

#2 Police Your Garbage.

Once critters associate your garbage with an easy meal, they'll be back. Make sure your garbage cans have tight fitting lids & consider securing them with bungee cords.

#3 Bring in Those Bowls.

Wild animals are keen on dog & cat food - and even water bowls - left outside on the porch or deck. Once they know it's there, they'll be regulars.

#4 Pick up Fallen Fruit.

Animals will frequent your yard for apples, berries, pears, etc... particularly if they're in easy reach.

#5 Cap Your Chimney.

Racoons often use open, uncapped chimneys as nesting sites. From there they can sneak into your house while you're away & do surprising - & costly - damage.

#6 Check Your Shed.

Opossums & other Animals Often hole up under outbuildings that lack foundations. Take steps to keep them out.

#7 Clear Out the Yard.

Make your yard is as park-like as possible. Keep it free of brush & branches that are on or close to the house.

#8 Enlist the Neighbors.

Keeping wild animals' wild is a community effort.  If even one resident decides not to cooperate, the neighborhood will ultimately have a problem.
